Sometimes the gains we make aren't the ones we are expecting. I feel that I am getting much stronger on the bike right now. I am also really happy with our progress with our running over the last 6 months. I had a great Liberty 5K on Wednesday, and once again had a great weekend of biking/running.
Yet, I am still not seeing progress on the scale. It is not a surprise really, since I am not eating well. For some reason I just don't have the willpower. But I continue to make gains in my fitness.
Many people feel that you have to be thin to be fit. You have to have a rock hard abs and be a size 2. But actually fitness is so much more than weight. I feel more fit now than I did 4 years ago when I weighed 30 pounds less. I wasn't exercising then, my fitness level had dropped (mostly due to school, and laziness). I've got the cardio workouts in place. Now I need to work in weight lifting and better nutrition.
I can't wait to see what my progress will be like when I drop 15 pounds... or 30... or 50. If I continue to exercise and progress, how fast will I be running then? Which group will I be biking with on Saturdays?
I look forward to finding out.
